California Center for the Arts Escondido Foundation is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Escondido, CA

Description

Department: Engineering

Supervisor: Facilities Director

FLSA Category:  Non-Exempt

Terms of Employment: At Will 

Position Status: Full-time (40 hours per week) 

Annual Salary:  $20.00-22.00 Hourly ; rate based on experience and qualifications

Position Objective

The Maintenance Technician position performs a variety of general building maintenance duties, including minor electrical and plumbing repairs, equipment preventive maintenance, and repairs in the upkeep of CCAE’s interior structures and physical plant.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Facility Maintenance:

  • Performing pre-event inspections checking house lighting, stairs lighting, seat lighting, exit door lighting, and door opening and closing function.
  • Scheduling air handler operation.
  • Adjusting temperature set points for events in Concert Hall, Center Theater, Conference Center and Studios utilizing the Pro-Com System.
  • Setting up electrical power where required for events using various amperage.
  • Manually starting and stopping supply and exhaust fan motor when required.
  • Work CH/CT shows as needed.

Preventive Maintenance and Repair:

  • Performing preventive maintenance and repair to kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • General maintenance and repair to CCAE property

Plumbing Repair:

  • Utilizing drain-cleaning equipment to clear plumbing in sinks and main drainage.

Safety:

  • Adhering to all safety programs and policies and performing work in a safe manner.
  • Reporting safety hazards to the Safety Committee immediately.
  • Conducting all work in accordance with CCAE’s policies and procedures, including safety, time & attendance, and uniform policies.

Other duties as may be deemed necessary by the direct supervisor. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Must be able to operate a variety of hand and power equipment and ladders in a safe and effective manner.
  • Certification, training and experience with operating a forklift and scissor lift is highly desired. 
  • Ability to read and interpret reports, plans, and write reports as needed.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and City maintenance personnel. 
  • Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
  • Must be able to be highly productive and do high quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to lift or push 50-100 pounds or more as needed. 
  • Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Must wear appropriate uniform at all times.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accomplish multiple priorities in a fast-paced work setting.
  • Must be flexible to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays with the ability to work long hours and overtime. 
  • Must wear appropriate uniform and all required PPE properly at all times.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 – 3 years of general facility maintenance or other applicable experience. Certification, training and experience with operating a forklift and scissor lift is highly desired. Employee must be able to complete training and obtain certification within 30 days on the job.

Physical demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, bend, stoop, and stand for 6 hours; bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing ladders, and working at heights and in confined spaces. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Exposure to electrical energy, noise, dust, grease, smoke, and fumes.

Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Working conditions may be indoor or outdoor setting depending on the work being performed. Varied weather conditions are expected. Noise levels vary which may at times require normal hearing protection in the form of ear plugs. Noise level can be high during events, shows, etc. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictate.
